Superlatives

You all know about them: High School Superlatives.

Most (if not, all) schools had them. They were a big deal. You voted and gave serious thought to them. Like the people you chose were being picked to become the next candidate for President or something. You waited on edge until you received that sheet of paper in homeroom with the results. The be-all, end-all of your high school career. How did your peers define you.

You were either shocked, impressed, honored, embarrassed, or disappointed. Or you ran the gamut of emotions and didn't really know what to think in the end.

What did I get?

Senior year. With my best friends. For life.

Best Friends. (With that ex-best friend I wrote about earlier this year)

Most Changed Since Freshman Year.

Other people got some cool titles: Most Athletic, Best Singer, Cutest Couple, Most Likely to Become President, Best Smile, Funniest.

I got Most Changed Since Freshman Year. And I was honored. And maybe a little confused.

I knew I was a completely different person from freshman year. I didn't really feel any different inside. I was glad people noticed me and that I had changed. But how did they really know? Was it my change in hairstyle? Was it the fact that by the end of senior year, I didn't really care what people thought of me and I realized that my high school career was ending and I wanted it to end with a bang?

 8th grade

Did people notice that I felt hindered at the beginning of freshman year by those so-called "friends" I had in elementary and middle school? I only really still talked to maybe three of them by senior year. I had rid myself of that negative part of my life that was middle school. I still remembered it, don't get me wrong. But I let go of it.

Like it or not. How people define us. Our superlatives. They effect who we are and who we become. Whether you only let it be a little blip on the radar or change you entirely is your choice.

I am proud of the fact that I was Most Changed. I hope I continue to be Most Changed and constantly evolve into someone new. In a good way.

  2. I feel the same way! It's important to always be encouraging and motivating ourselves to be the best version that we can!
