I'm taking a break this week from Notes on Nursing, as I'm still in the process of getting people lined up + next week is Nurse's Week so I'm sure you'll all by Nurse-d out by then!
Being that it is almost summer, a lot of us have a bunch of events planned. Weddings, Bridal showers, baby showers, concerts, parties, etc. An important part of summer events is fashion. You have to look your best in the beautiful summer weather! I am by no means a "fashion blogger", but I've put together a few looks with some pieces I love (but would probably never wear).
Country Music Festival
An important part of summer (for me, at least) is country music concerts. For a few years, I had a festival each summer I went to. Last year was actually the first time I didn't attend any. It doesn't look like I'll be going to any this year either, but I do have a few concerts planned or in the works including: Maggie Rose, Dustin Lynch, & Chris Cagle.
Country music festivals are probably one of the only places where denim on denim is acceptable (for the most part!). Miranda Lambert was my style inspiration here: who doesn't love a bad-ass chick? Depending on the weather & how late it goes, it can sometimes get chilly. To curb the chills, I've included a cute pullover representing my man, Blake Shelton. Or you could just keep drinking to keep yourself warm ;)
American Flag Heart Tank - $10.80 - Forever 21 // Amber Short - $170 - Hudson Jeans // Rag & Bone Distressed Denim Vest - $220 - Net-a-Porter // I Heart BS Pullover - $35 - BlakeShelton.com // Old Gringo Tabitha All Over Flower Design Cowgirl Boots - $504 - Sheplers
Another important event this summer is my cousin's baby shower! This particular cousin is the one closest in age to me, so it's definitely making me feel a little old. We found out she is having a girl (the first one in the family since 2006!) & so you know I'm going to have to rock the pink! I love the laid-back country look of this dress!
All-Over Floral Printed Belted Casual Dress - $17.25 - Deb // Gold Bangle Set - $39.50 - J.Crew// B. Brian Atwood "Augustina" Pink Suede & Snakeskin Flat Gladiator Sandal - $325 - Shirise
Fourth of July is always an important summer event. Fireworks, warm weather, family & friends, grilling out, a couple of cold drinks...mmm, I can't wait! I think it's pretty much mandatory to wear red, white, & blue on this holiday. I kept it casual here & channeled a little Miley for this look. 'Cause it's a Party in the U.S.A. over here! (Anyone, anyone?)
American Eagle Tank - $16.99 - Full Tilt // Frayed Twill Shorts - $35.90 - Zara// Converse Chuck Taylor All-Star Sneaks in Baja Blue - $50 - Jildor
One of the big events in my college town of Decorah every summer is Nordic Fest. Decorah is super Norwegian, so, even though I'm not, you still have to celebrate! I've actually never been to this July event, as I'm usually always busy that particular weekend. But it's a staple for a lot of the Luther kids to come back to Decorah to have fun, party, enjoy their college town, & get together with friends. The bars & day-drinking are two highlights. For a night out on the town at Luther, this outfit (or some version, thereof) is a must. We'll just replace that Jager bomb with a Long Island, Rum & Coke, or a SoCo with Dew.
P.S. I don't condone the wearing of this outfit anywhere except the classy establishment of Roscoe's down in Decorah, Iowa. I don't think it's probably acceptable as clothing any place else...
Sounds like a fun summer ahead! Those outfits are cute; I especially love the fourth of july one!
