I find that blogging is most fulfilling when I share personal stories or experiences. Stuff that people can relate to. I don't know if this is really relatable, but everyone has scars right?

People always have asked me: what happened to your ear? Well, here's the 411.

While we're looking at this picture, may I just mention how freaking tan I am?! Ugh...MN winters need to end...

Meet my right earlobe.

In 5th grade, I got my ears pierced for the first time. I was obsessed. And it didn't even hurt!

I don't know how much time passed, maybe a year or two. Anyway, one night, I was sleeping with my blanket. It got stuck on my earring without me knowing and pulled. It ripped the piercing down so there was only a teeny bit of space left until the bottom of my earlobe.

I then decided I wanted a second piercing in each ear. Loved it! So cute!

I finally decided to let my original piercing close so I could get it repierced further away from the bottom of my earlobe.

Well, in the process of my piercing closing. A little bit of scar tissue formed.

Not a problem, the next ear-piercing lady told me. They just moved my right piercing up a little higher.

Probably 3 or so years later, my piercing got caught again and ripped a teeny bit. I stopped putting earrings in at night. (Learn my lesson, much?) But then I would forget to put them in the next morning. When I tried to get an earring in my bottom hole, it was so hard to get in. I finally let my bottom piercings just close again.

More scar tissue formed. So now I have a big ball of scar tissue on my right earlobe. Also called a keloid.

I could technically get plastic surgery and have it removed, but whose to say it wouldn't form again during the healing from surgery? And become even worse.

I still can wear earrings because I have that second piercing in my ear. It's a little higher on my ear, but who cares. The only thing I miss is wearing hoops and drop earrings. Only studs for this girl.

And I always take my earrings out at night.

Have any cool scar stories?

  1. I could not imagine having my earrings get ripped out. That sounds so painful! You much have a very high pain tolerance!

By the came come join the blog hop!

  2. I totally laughed out loud when I read, "Meet my right earlobe." Your story is not a laughing matter though. I may have cringed a little while reading. Ouch! Your poor earlobe. :(

When I was eight, I was bike riding by myself (in hindsight, I don't know why I was alone at that age) and I tried to get my bike over a curb. Instead, the bike toppled over and I cut my knee pretty bad. There was blood gushing and whatnot but I sucked it up, walked by bike home, came inside and showed my mom. That's when I started bawling my eyes out.

That was a long time ago, but I still have the scar on my knee from it!

  3. I can only imagine the pain from ripping an earring out. Ouch!! I wouldn't get the scar tissue removed. I think it's just another little way to make you unique.

  4. I have a scar on the top of my right foot right where my toes begins. I got it climbing on a car when I was about 5 yrs old. cut my foot open on the windsheild wiper.

  5. I have a similar story, I had my ears done when I was 12 a month later I was out patting my sisters little pony and whilst she was nuzzling into my shoulder she noticed my shiny new earing and bit it out! It tore through my earlobe almost to the bottom of the ear too. I waited until I was 16 to redo my ears and by that time the scar was pretty minimal so you cant really tell, theres a slight scar but I am pretty darn lucky. Needless to say I never forgave the pony!!
