First Things First: Luther College, Brandt Hall, & Freshman Living
Okay so I know two blog posts in one day is probably taboo or something, but I couldn't resist. I knew I had to post my Little Big Town recap today because it was already planned, but I needed to link up with Halie for First Things First because this week's topic is college & I love reminiscing on my college days because I love Luther!
First Roommates
I lived in Brandt Hall my freshman year: the most popular freshman dorm at Luther. When I got my room assignments, I found out I was on the top floor (4th) & the rooms housed 4 people each. To say I was a little apprehensive was an understatement. Luckily, it ended up being the best place I could have lived. My three roomies, Megan, Kristie, Nicole, & I clicked instantly (that isn't to say we didn't have fights. I distinctly remember three of us ignoring the other one for....less than classy behavior...for maybe a week). So did a lot of the girls on our floor. And we had the best & sweetest RA, Beth. Due to some unforeseen & very sad circumstances within the first two weeks of Fall Semester, our entire floor became very, very close.
One of my favorite memories: if we couldn't get to sleep, we would all lay in our beds talking to each other about what we first thought of each other upon going on Facebook when we got our roomie assignments. There is also a legend at Luther about a one-armed man that stalks out campus & we were talking about it one night & scaring each other & then there's this loud knock on our door that scared the crap out of all of us and no one would go answer the door.
Pictures above include: our floors Christmas party, dying our hair, Flamingo Ball (Homecoming), Halloween, & our end-of-the-year party.
First time living away from home
As I mentioned, it was during the above freshman year at Luther. Probably one of the best years I had at Luther. I still went home probably once a month though. Our floor had a lot of fun! I'll include some videos below that include some moments from that year.
Photos above include: Barack Obama rally, Flamingo Ball (get it? we're posing like flamingos.), Christmas decorating, Homecoming Football game, end-of-the-year party, late night photo sesh, Halloween, & our floor's outing to get piercings.
Leap Frog at midnight for Kristie's birthday!
Decorating our window for Christmas. We were laughing because the spray snow ended up looking like graffiti.
First Dorm
Unfortunately, I can't find where I put the first pictures I took of how my dorm was set up. I uploaded them online, but have no clue where. Sad day :( So I found the few pictures I could. We loved to decorate for all the holidays. We turned our door into a fireplace for Christmas &, yes, that is a picture of two bunnies...you know....for Easter. Needless to say, we got a lot of people to stop in front of our door.
