Secret Study Sessions

By now, I'm sure you all know I'm studying to take my NCLEX in a few weeks. It's a thankless job, really ;)

Of course, we have our normal study sessions: practice questions, reviewing content from the Kaplan study book, listening to online lectures and tricks.

It really is helping so far (I think).

But sometimes, you just need to spice it up.

Seriously.

There are other ways I'm able to study:

Episodes of E.R.

I've loved this show since I was in Junior High, but I never really understood all the medical stuff going on. Not anymore (well, for the most part). I'm actually able to study using some of the patients on the show! If they name a drug, you bet I'm gonna rattle off the side effects and things to watch for. If they talk about a sign/symptom, I'm gonna relate it to what I've studied. It keeps me accountable while relaxing before bed.

Commercials

This commercial helped me a lot during my NCLEX reviewing. Who knew Burger's Disease was so testable? But I remembered things about it because of seeing this!

Other people may call this slacking off instead of studying, I say HA - we'll see about that!

  2. I love ER! I remember hearing some of it is pretty inaccurate...or maybe that was Grey's. But I also remember when someone was featured on one of the special episodes who realized she had a brain tumor because she had the same symptoms as Mark Greene.
