Just want to say I disagree with something in that IV article. Unless it is an emergency situation, don't look for only 12 seconds, but don't look for ages either. If you use the first one you see (likely in those first few seconds), it might not always be the best candidate. If you miss that one, you only have one other chance (if the patient is willing). Take your time if it's within reason. Also, that picture shows a HORRIBLE place for an IV. It is extremely tender for the patient and never lasts long. Just a tip to help you get through your first IV. :)
