This is where I need your help.
I am currently getting ready to work on a post about slut shaming and victim blaming. I would love to get other's opinions on these issues/topics. Whether you work in fields that encounter these issues, have personally experienced these issues, are just passionate about putting an end to them, or are confused or don't fully understand them. All opinions and thoughts are welcome.
You could write a personal experience or story with these issues. You could talk about what you think of these issues. You could ask questions. Or maybe just talk about what you think of when you hear the word 'slut'. Anything.
Answers can remain anonymous, if you wish. You can either leave a comment here with your thoughts, tweet me for more information, or, if you want your answer to be anonymous, you can always e-mail me. I think that people are too quick to label a woman as a "slut." I am a firm believer of freedom of expression, being who we are, and not having to hide it. If a woman is comfortable in their skin and want to show off a little more than most I say more power to them. A woman's body is beautiful and we shouldn't have to be shamed into hiding it and feeling ashamed for what we were born with. A woman who goes out to a club with some friends in a short dress is not asking to be a victim of sexual assault. A woman who does this is comfortable with her body and is not afraid to show it. I believe many of us think of Miley Cyrus when this subject comes around. To me Miley is just being herself. She isn't hiding who she is anymore. She isn't out to make anyone happy but herself. She is a young beautiful woman and she is enjoying it! In the process she is inspiring women around the world to be themselves too.
