2013: The Songs That Came in Like a Wrecking Ball

Helene in Between

I feel like I haven't sat down here to write in forever (even though it's only been a week!). Per usual, I am late to the party. In my defense, I was helping the nursing students I tutor prepare for their finals this week and I was meeting, like, twice a day, so I didn't have much time, but I AM BACK! And I am sharing my top 15 favorite songs of 2013!

Of course, in no particular order. I just love music so much picking a favorite wouldn't work.

"Wrecking Ball" - Miley Cyrus

Wrecking Ball by Miley Cyrus on Grooveshark

Forget the swinging naked, licking a sledgehammer, and other odd behaviors. This song is just plain GOOD. Very catchy and easy to sing along to.

"Wake Me Up" - Avicii

Truth be told, I hadn't heard this song until maybe a month or so ago? But, again, so catchy and fun to listen to.

"Mirrors" - Justin Timberlake

You just cannot exclude J.T. from this list after the year he's had. This is, hands down, my favorite song of his. Ever.

"Still Into You" - Paramore

Again, my favorite song Paramore has ever released.

"Royals" - Lorde

 Royals by Lorde on Grooveshark

This song just won't quit. Everyone and their mother knows this song now.

"Follow Your Arrow" - Kacey Musgraves

Funny little ditty. Basically, Kacey's just tellin' ya to do whatever the hell you want and who cares.

"Thrift Shop" - Macklemore & Ryan Lewis

Once again, everyone and their mother knows this song.

"Compass" - Lady Antebellum

Lady Antebellum came out with some great new songs this year and this is my favorite. Such a good message.

"We Were Us" - Keith Urban & Miranda Lambert

We Were Us (duet with Miranda Lambert) by Keith Urban - www.musicasparabaixar.org on Grooveshark

Miranda & Keith + the songwriting of Nicolle Galyon? Need I say more?!

"Wagon Wheel" - Darius Rucker

Okay, so technically this is an Old Crow Medicine Show song, but how can you not love Darius' version? I could listen to this song multiple times a day and never get sick of it.

"Crash My Party" - Luke Bryan

Mmm, mm, mmmm....Mr. Luke Bryan....

"Roar" - Katy Perry

I love a song with a good message. This song makes me feel good.

"Cannonball" - Lea Michele

One of the brand new songs that just released this month, but Lea said this song helped lift her up after Cory's death and I just love it.

"Mine Would Be You" - Blake Shelton

 And Mr. Blake Shelton...mmmm.

"All of Me" - John Legend

I absolutely adore this song. So sweet and easy to listen to.

Runner-Ups

"Boys 'Round Here" - Blake Shelton ft. Pistol Annies

Boys 'Round Here by Blake Shelton on Grooveshark

Red, red, red, red, red, red, red, red, redneck!

"I Drive Your Truck" - Lee Brice

 Love this Lee Brice song.

"All Kinds of Kinds" - Miranda Lambert

Miranda will always be #1 in my book.

"Downtown" - Lady Antebellum

"I got a dress that'll show a little uh-uh, but you ain't gettin' nuh-uh until you come pick me up, show me off..."

"Brave" - Sara Bareilles

Brave by Sara Bareilles on Grooveshark

Really, really, really, really similar to "Roar". And I love them both.

"Clarity" - Zedd ft. Foxes

Great mix between a sweet little song and a fun dance beat.

"And the Radio Played" - Lady Antebellum

Again, a song that was released within the past month or two. I love how Lady A included historic songs within this piece.

"Heart of Dixie" - Danielle Bradbery

I'm lovin' Danielle Bradbery and this song is perfect for her. It tells a story.

What were some of your favorites from 2013?
