A Letter to Me

August 2007: Formal Night

Dear 18 year old Breanna,

Congratulations! You graduated high school & have been accepted to a wonderful college - Luther College! Cherish this time in your life; it is full of unending opportunity - take advantage of it.

Soon you will be heading off to college and living away from home for the first time. It's not as scary as it seems. You will be rooming with 3 wonderful girls your freshman year. One of whom will become one of your best friends. Another who will change your life and share many helpful conversations. Enjoy your first year. It will change you in ways you never imagined and the girls living on your floor will make college less intimidating.

I hear you just changed your major from Nursing to Elementary Education? Why did you decide to do that? Think it through. I know it's not where your true passion lies: Nursing is. Don't be afraid to speak up when you realize this later. And please, stay at Luther: it is your home away from home. Dissecting a cat isn't so bad; don't let that course be the reason you abandon nursing.

You haven't started blogging yet, but next year you will. Keep up with it more: it really is so much fun and the people you meet because of it are so cool.

Enjoy the rest of your life. You are only 18 once.

Love,
Breanna
